When they’re older, students with special education needs often transition back to regular school programs but this requires educators to be able to identify signs that indicate why some of their behaviour issues persist.
This isn’t something most schools prepare for; instead, they rely upon gut instinct & hope for the best. But many people who work with young learners find teaching with those who have autism harder than other areas of student development. As early intervention becomes more widely available across Canada, educators must consider the potential impact that identifying Autism Spectrum Disorders will bring to their classrooms.
Children with moderate disabilities like speech delay, motor delays, cognitive impairment and emotional/social impairments tend to experience less academic underachievement and higher rates of graduation from high school as compared to students without the identified disability. However, when a child with a specific type of disability struggles in multiple aspects, parents face greater challenges in helping their child overcome barriers associated with certain types of disabilities & supports.
For parents who suspect their kid has ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), there’s no substitute for professional diagnosis and specialized treatment for improving classroom engagement. If you believe your young learner could benefit from a customized program designed specifically for their needs, ask for a referral to see if they might qualify for Early Intervention Services. Parents should explore whether the local system provides services to provide individualized instruction to students whose educational needs exceed typical methods because early intervention helps ensure their long term outcomes. For example, early intervention can lead to better learning levels because teachers’ interventions allow parents to keep working outside the home, increasing family income. It’s critical that families know exactly what services exist locally, since waiting lists vary greatly by province.
I was introduced to an excellent mentor/mentee pair via my wife who worked with autistic children for many years already, but still felt she wanted to become better prepared in her work. As luck would have it, this individual came across me during his search online. We started chatting right away. He had no problems contacting me directly and sharing some great ideas he had come across along the way. After several sessions, with him taking control of the lesson planning and teaching materials, he was able to teach me things I truly hadn’t experienced yet...things like practical strategies to approach parents and families dealing with special needs kids, how to talk to people effectively, use visual aids effectively, improve listening techniques in general, etc., etc....I could go on for pages describing just how awesome this man’s life philosophy was. And then I found myself sitting back thinking “why am i waiting until 2022?”, and quickly realized that I couldn’t afford not being ready sooner!! So fast forward 2+years and I’m happy to say I’ve made the jump and signed myself onto the shop.tutorone.ca database, working remotely all over Western Canada so far...and I’ll tell ya, if this isn’t one heckuva amazing journey in and of itself I don’t know anything else worth mentioning haha. All joking aside though, I really wish everyone well on their own journeys towards knowledge and enlightenment. They’re out there and they’re beautiful folks...just search for yourself 🙂 If this sounds interesting to you too, reach out to me for details on my mentors/team page, or simply message me through Facebook. Here’s my story in case anyone wants take advantage of this unique opportunity. Also feel free to ask questions via email, FB messenger or Twitter...
I’ll be focusing my attention on the city of Dunnville, but I’d like to mention that it would apply equally well to other cities across the country. If you’re interested, read further below on why you should consider becoming a special education tutor.
Why Become A Special Ed Teacher?
If you’ve ever worked with people who have special educational needs, then you already understand just how valuable these teachers can be. They work tirelessly to provide their students with the support they need in order to achieve academic milestones.
But the good news is, if you decide to become a teacher with special needs, you won’t face many limitations. Most states offer training programs which allow educators to gain additional certification in areas such as speech therapy. And because most teachers receive extra funding for working with children with disabilities, you shouldn’t struggle financially either.
So, if you feel passionate about helping those less fortunate than yourself, then becoming a special ed instructor might be perfect for you. But if you don’t yet see yourself as someone who wants to teach kids, it’s still worth considering becoming a regular educator instead. Why? Because teaching isn’t always what you expect, especially if you haven’t experienced the daily grind first hand. But if you’re ready to get involved, becoming a special ed teacher could be exactly what you need.
What Does Being An Educational Assistant Mean Anyway?
When it comes to being a part of a classroom setting, educational assistants aren’t usually considered a “real” role. However, the title does accurately describe what they actually do. These professionals assist with everything from keeping a schedule to monitoring student behavior and offering feedback. They also serve as a link among parents and students, helping both groups communicate better. And since educational assistance roles tend to come with a lower salary than more typical positions, it makes sense to seek this position as soon as possible.
While most people assume that having specific academic difficulties will limit education outcomes, research shows otherwise.
The good news is that a small percentage of children struggle through life unable to read, write, spell, count accurately, perform mathematical calculations, or keep track of day-to-day events without external assistance. Their poor literacy levels often result in higher absenteeism rates and poorer school attendance than those who are less challenged in reading and writing. In fact, some studies suggest that around 4 percent of Canadian kids suffer from severe disabilities that prevent them from meeting full educational standards.
But just because they fall behind doesn’t mean they’ll stay behind forever; many of today’s top performers began struggling early but made strong strides once they received targeted intervention—which is why effective special needs programs continue to be critically important well beyond elementary school.
Specialty schools
Most countries offer universal opportunities like preschool and elementary schooling via publicly funded systems. However, Canada recognizes a critical shortage of highly specialized supports, which can be particularly valuable for high-need learners. We therefore provide tuition support for parents who send their child to private specialty schools.
How does this work? Because federal law prohibits discrimination against disabled Canadians when deciding eligibility criteria for services provided by publicly funded agencies, all provinces must include disability status among the grounds used to determine whether families qualify under provincial funding caps and guidelines. As a result, every province offers direct subsidies for eligible education options ranging from preschool care to graduate degrees. While Quebec recently made changes to address inequity issues, all provinces must still ensure accessibility and affordability for vulnerable populations, including individuals living in rural regions or remote communities. The current system ensures equity across geographic boundaries, ensuring no child within a jurisdiction receives less financial attention than another simply due to geography.
2. All sessions begin with individualized assessments to identify strengths and weaknesses. These include standardized tests, project presentations, portfolios, etc. Our assessments also determine whether a particular subject area should become the focus of the current assignment.
3. Once assessment and analysis is complete, we develop appropriate, personalized lesson plans that incorporate the areas identified above.
4. After completing a series of lessons, we evaluate the effectiveness of the instruction via weekly homework assignments and report cards. In some cases, the teacher may assign additional follow-up work after a period of observation has occurred. If necessary, this type of tutoring could be provided outside school hours to meet the child’s schedule.
5. Each session concludes with group discussions among peers who have similar academic backgrounds, interests, and abilities; thus enabling children to make connections with similarly situated peers. Group work helps foster greater communication skills while allowing for increased confidence building amongst members of the class.
6. Students receive regular feedback regarding their efforts through weekly reports that are reviewed during monthly staff meetings. Reports are also submitted to parents for information purposes.
7. Teachers are available 24/7 via phone calls or email communications to address questions and concerns that arise.
8. Student evaluations play a critical role in determining which areas of strength and weakness remain unaddressed.
9. Teachers regularly attend professional development workshops held by local universities. These workshops assist teachers in keeping abreast of the latest developments in education technology.
10. Students participate in field trips, community events, sporting competitions, and various recreational activities as part of our “life enrichment” programs.

Who Should Adopt TutorOne’s Tutoring Methodology?
Every parent knows that the average public school education system has its faults, but few know that there are alternatives. Every year, parents become educated more about the effectiveness of individualizing children’s education. They understand that learning styles and learning strategies vary greatly among students and that students require additional focus and encouragement to excel, especially in subjects such as math, science, and reading. Students learn differently than adults; children absorb knowledge faster and retain it longer than adults can; and they’re less prone to procrastination. TutorOne’s comprehensive approach teaches kids to think positively, and teaches students when they don’t perform up to par.
Testimonial By A Parent Like You
"My son recently turned 15, and started taking Advanced Placement exams. He was doing quite poorly in Spanish II and English III, having scored only a 2 and 3 respectively. With one week left before he needed to take the AP test, I decided to enroll him in TutorOne Private Tutoring. His teacher had told me that he was a bright kid, but just didn’t put forth the effort required to excel. My son came home every day telling me about the amazing learning experience he was having with TutorOne. He did score a 4 on his Spanish II test, and his overall grade point average went from a 2.9 (D) to a 4.8 (A+) in Spanish, and a 1.7 (F) to a 4.0 (A) in English. Most importantly though, my son learned to love his studies and got a kick out of seeing his grades soaring. It was truly eye opening to see how one lesson per week changed everything." ~ Lisa H.,Parent, California
