Special Needs Tutoring Ayr FAQs
2. Build your own library. Families who have had similar experience find great comfort knowing they don’t have to rely solely on school books but have their own personal collection at home. Having a well stocked classroom will be invaluable during times of stress, illness and transition. For example, some students with ADHD often struggle transitioning to a different environment, which could mean they forget everything they learned in class. It’s important to keep these books readily accessible, because students will use it to calm themselves down and gain focus. These are essential tools to ensure a smooth education journey for students.
3. Learn from peers. One way families can benefit immensely from working closely side by side is when parents get information from fellow parents through networking events. Parents tend to feel comfortable sharing tips and tricks and information about their child with other parents and teachers alike. As long as everyone stays positive towards each other, parents won’t come across as competitive, and instead, they’ll view every parent as part of a support system rather than competitors. When the time comes to apply strategies to real life issues, you may learn a thing or two along the way.
4. Be open minded. While some families believe that schools should educate students according to their unique personalities or strengths, we encourage families to adopt a “whatever fits” mentality. Some students benefit greatly from a structured program while others thrive under a less regimented approach. It is ultimately up to the teacher and student/parent partnership to decide on the best fit.
But that’s why we love working with these kids. They bring an excitement to the classroom that makes everyone feel like a kid again. And when you work together to find creative solutions to overcome those problems, magic happens.
So whether you’ve got a child who struggles reading aloud, someone else whose attention span isn’t great, or anyone dealing with other physical and/or mental issues, we’ll be happy to work with you to provide a safe yet stimulating environment for these precious souls so they can achieve academic success.

We can provide tips and tricks on teaching methods for those of you that aren’t used to dealing with Special Needs kids. We’ll show you what makes them tick and teach you strategies on how to effectively communicate with them without coming across like they’re annoying little brats.
In fact, many Special Needs children love having fun and enjoy playing games with friends, but they may find certain aspects harder to navigate, which is why it’s critical to understand the differences.
Children with autism spectrum disorder face particular difficulties understanding language development. Some of these problems become noticeable during infancy but they remain undetected until toddlers enter preschool age. Most young autistic individuals struggle academically because they lack appropriate academic strategies. If this problem persists beyond elementary years, special education services may still benefit your family and improve your child’s prospects but only if taught by properly trained specialists who understand the challenges associated with ASD. Specialists must work collaboratively with families and schools to design programs tailored to meet individual student needs and objectives. Because they usually need direct instruction, they often function most effectively with small groups composed as close to two thirds boys and one third girls. For example, many specialized schools offer classrooms with no more than 12 children per class. Some educators suggest grouping siblings together, however, the experience suggests this approach causes stress rather than reducing it. As a result, schools typically assign all siblings separated by grade levels to the same classroom. Although research has shown little difference between outcomes provided by sibling and peer peers, many believe separation provides children with additional opportunities to develop positive relations without competition. Many experts advise against separating siblings in classes because of potential negative impacts in terms of academics. But given most autistic learners cannot tolerate prolonged contact with unfamiliar people, especially in situations involving high noise level, it makes sense to group siblings together whenever possible.
I love sharing with parents, teachers, coaches, friends and family just like everyone else around us, and seeing those eyes light up when someone realizes that someone understands exactly “what” she’s saying without her having to explain herself is incredibly empowering. And of course, watching little ones develop and express themselves through art, music, dance and play are magical experiences. But sometimes adults struggling with anxiety find ways to connect with the young students in their care. Working with special needs children helps adult helpers remember why they wanted to be educators in the first place. At times it feels impossible to keep going after a challenging week with several unruly/difficult behaviours coming up every Friday afternoon during recess, but then you’re surrounded by happy faces, excitedly telling you stories about how well they did, and asking you questions about your own experience. All of these moments serve to remind you of why you chose this career path in the first place.
My personal mission is to provide high quality individualized instruction designed to maximize success for these learners, while building self esteem along the way. I am dedicated to making educational opportunities accessible to everyone regardless of ability so that the next generation of leaders can take advantage of their gifts, interests and passions to further inspire humankind towards greater heights.
We always welcome feedback especially positive comments because they inspire other individuals. If anyone would like to contact me regarding anything please feel free to reach out via phone/email @ 705 954 5555 [email protected] or info@tutoreneurodevelopmentalcentres.

Why should I consider hiring a tutor with Tutor One?
Children with developmental delays often struggle with academic subjects like reading comprehension and maths due to language barriers, poor handwriting, lack of motivation or attention span. They may have problems with processing information or following directions. These issues cause difficulties with academic achievement and can lead to failure to thrive in many cases. Children with ASD face additional challenges including sensory sensitivities, obsessive behaviours and repetitive patterns. They tend to have trouble focusing during class, making eye contact and paying attention to details. Some children have difficulty understanding abstract terms and ideas, leading to struggles with vocabulary development...
Tutor One’s mission statement clearly states “We’re dedicated to helping teachers work better in classrooms; parents understand their children; employers recruit talented, motivated people; kids thrive academically” We believe this is accomplished every day because of the quality education that students receive, which requires quality tutoring services. For those who find themselves struggling in schools and need extra assistance outside of school hours, please see below.

Mr. Steve Smith
Dr. Jim Browning was trained by Johns Hopkins University through his PhD in clinical psychology. During this training he received extensive knowledge in neuropsychology. He holds a BA degree from Michigan State University and has taught school since 1991. Currently, Dr. Browning teaches students ages 3–12, mostly in autism and Asperger syndrome (AS). His philosophy revolves around developing strategies which assist him, other educators, and parents working towards educating individuals with AS/PDD-NOS, specifically those whose abilities fall above “average but below intellectual disability”. Dr. Browning’s teaching style involves building trust, respect, honesty, accountability, and commitment amongst his pupils. By focusing on the strengths and interests of their individual learners, many of whom struggle with verbal communication, Dr. Browning emphasizes practical applications in life rather than academic lessons only. Because of his unique approach, many schools across Canada hire Browning. For instance, Stoneybrook School hired him after they met his standards for both parent engagement and student outcomes. Many families praise him because his methods encourage independence and self-regulation without placing pressure upon the pupil to learn things outside of his ability level.

Who Should Adopt TutorOne’s Tutoring Methodology?
Every parent knows that the average public school education system has its faults, but few know that there are alternatives. Every year, parents become educated more about the effectiveness of individualizing children’s education. They understand that learning styles and learning strategies vary greatly among students and that students require additional focus and encouragement to excel, especially in subjects such as math, science, and reading. Students learn differently than adults; children absorb knowledge faster and retain it longer than adults can; and they’re less prone to procrastination. TutorOne’s comprehensive approach teaches kids to think positively, and teaches students when they don’t perform up to par.
Testimonial By A Parent Like You
"My son recently turned 15, and started taking Advanced Placement exams. He was doing quite poorly in Spanish II and English III, having scored only a 2 and 3 respectively. With one week left before he needed to take the AP test, I decided to enroll him in TutorOne Private Tutoring. His teacher had told me that he was a bright kid, but just didn’t put forth the effort required to excel. My son came home every day telling me about the amazing learning experience he was having with TutorOne. He did score a 4 on his Spanish II test, and his overall grade point average went from a 2.9 (D) to a 4.8 (A+) in Spanish, and a 1.7 (F) to a 4.0 (A) in English. Most importantly though, my son learned to love his studies and got a kick out of seeing his grades soaring. It was truly eye opening to see how one lesson per week changed everything." ~ Lisa H.,Parent, California
