Science Tutoring Lakeshore FAQs
What does that mean for me?
We’re here for every parent who wants to ensure his/her child receives the same quality education as those kids living near Toronto. We offer tutoring services across multiple subjects including Math, Reading Comprehension, English Language Arts, History, Geography, Science, Biology, French, Spanish, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Skills, Music, Art & Design, Drama, PE & Fitness Training, Dance, Chess, Yoga & More.
Why should I consider hiring a Lake Shore science teacher instead of taking advantage of online classes from home via platforms like Skype / Zoom, Blackboard or Udemy?
There are many advantages to having a local instructor teach your kid science lessons:
1. Your kids learn better through face to face contact.
2. They develop relationships with other children in class – something that isn’t possible online.
3. A personal teacher can tailor lesson plans specifically around the student’s strengths and weaknesses, making learning fun.
4. Students benefit from a one-on-one interaction with a teacher in person, rather than being stuck watching videos online. They’re able to interact during class, get feedback, practice assignments, and work together towards group projects.
5. They’ll feel motivated knowing someone else is depending on them, and this gives them extra incentive to complete homework and study ahead of their next lesson.
How Do We Deliver Quality Lessons?
All our teachers undergo rigorous training programs before being allowed to join our team, ensuring they understand exactly what parents expect of them and what makes a great science tutor.
TutorOne offers classes in many different areas, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math, Statistics & Calculus I&II. Your donation to charity goes towards projects related to literacy, cancer prevention, environmental sustainability, arts appreciation, youth development, animal welfare, human rights advocacy, health care access & support, and educational outreach and services to children with special needs. So whether you’d rather spend your afternoons doing art class, homework help, or studying abroad, Tutor One has got you covered.
We live in challenging times. For many this includes the current political climate, rising tensions with China, and other global issues. All of these factors contribute to making international relations increasingly complex.
The U.S.-China trade war began back in 2018 after President Trump announced his intention to increase tariffs for Chinese goods coming into the United States by 10%. He argued that America’s trading partners were taking advantage of US companies through unfair subsidies provided by the government. Since then he raised tariffs multiple times, eventually reaching 25% on $250 billion worth of imports. China retaliated against American products with duties of equal size. At first this was just words but as both countries increased tariffs, things escalated quickly. A few months ago the White House threatened to raise additional import penalties unless Beijing removes existing barriers limiting foreign investment or provides greater market access to US tech firms. On top of it, China launched “Made in 2025” initiatives aimed at supplanting American industry and technology. These include efforts to overtake advanced manufacturing industries and become a leading country...Read more...
1.) Private science lessons help you learn faster. Students who attend private math instruction tend to score higher than those attending traditional school classes. Why is that? Because they receive personalized attention which allows them to focus 100% on understanding concepts instead of wasting precious class time on rote memorization. When teaching children at home, it’s important to provide ample repetition until mastery is reached because students aren’t going to be able to retain information unless they’ve repeated it enough times.
2.) Private science lessons prepare kids for college courses. Many universities require students to complete specific curriculum prior to enrolling, but many private schools lack these requirements and allow parents to decide whether they’d prefer their child be enrolled at a local high school versus being taught at home. If you’re thinking about homeschooling, then this would be an excellent route since most colleges won’t accept transcripts without certain coursework and exams completed beforehand; however, if it makes sense financially, then private schooling could be ideal for your family’s needs.
3.) Children learn better through hands-on experiences. Research shows that children understand material easier if you teach them via experimentation as opposed to simply lecturing. It’s common for students to lose interest after only 15 minutes of instruction. By giving them opportunities to experiment outside of the classroom, children are encouraged to continue studying topics outside of normal textbooks that often prove less effective than real world examples in reaching comprehension
4.) Learning happens when your brain gets tired. As humans age, cognitive function declines. A study published in 2012 showed older adults performed worse on memory tests when compared to younger people, regardless of education level. While it isn’t necessarily true that children aged 9 years old should be receiving the same educational materials as seniors aged 60+, research does demonstrate that children benefit tremendously from having fun during lesson planning.
1/ Set your house rules. If your kids haven’t already noticed then you should definitely get rid of those electronics during dinner or family movie nights. If they’re home after school just tell them “No TV” or “Don’t watch X”. Also limit screen time, especially once bedtime rolls around.
2/ Try something different than reading. Kids often develop early stages of dyslexia and other types of writing disorders which makes memorising facts easier. Instead, focus attention and energy on hands-on exploratory play with children, encourage creative projects rather than rote fact memorisation. When they discover things themselves through exploration children enjoy exploring nature alongside science concepts. For instance, take advantage of local opportunities to explore insects, reptiles, plants or animals in real life without them having to be taught that concept via books, videos or online lessons. Nature’s beauty brings us closer together allowing parents to bond with their children and understand that learning isn’t always confined only inside the four walls of the classroom.
3/ Make it fun. Kids learn differently depending on how they experience educational environments, therefore making it fun shouldn’t mean taking away discipline by all means. Think outside the box while embracing your inner creativity; experiment with ways to help engage your child better during class by finding interactive visual aids or materials that fit seamlessly with curriculum content.
Science courses usually focus on some branch of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geology, astronomy, ecology, meteorology, environmental sciences, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, genetics, botany, or zoology, along with related concepts like physical geography, meteorology and oceanography. However, many areas overlap with other disciplines. For example, astrophysics examines celestial bodies and stars, but aspects of this field contribute towards topics studied in both astrodynamics and space medicine. Similarly, molecular biology deals mainly with the interactions occurring inside individual living cells, yet these same principles apply across different classes of life forms including plants, mammals, fungi, microbes, viruses, and parasites. An illustration shows various courses offered under the subject “science”.
Although scientists use the scientific method to collect information for analysis, this does not mean they always find solutions to problems by following a rigid formula.[12] Instead, the scientific community continuously evaluates existing hypotheses by accepting, rejecting and modifying theories depending upon empirical observations and theoretical considerations. Scientists often employ analogies and models derived from everyday experience to explain otherwise complicated subjects. Because theories must be repeatedly tested against independent corroborating evidence rather than just logical consistency, scientists generally rely heavily on observation in order to confirm a theory’s validity. Therefore, theories which remain untested or unconfirmed cannot be considered valid until confirmed scientifically. It follows that, unlike non-scientific methods, modern science has no predetermined path toward discovery.
At LPLA, we teach science through inquiry rather than memorization; this leads to accelerated academic development, higher achievement scores and better life outcomes. We use high impact teaching techniques, hands-on scientific tools and real world experiences to help students unlock their natural aptitudes in math and sciences.
We provide professional services which includes but are not restricted to STEM instruction for home schooled, independent study and daycare programs across Niagara Region.
This article was written with the assistance of Dr. Stephen Krashen PhD, Professor Emeritus Dept of Psychology University College London UCL England. He is known internationally as “the father of modern science teaching”.

In this post, I am going to explain how science teachers can be creative when teaching K– 12 science and provide kids with the tools they need to master those concepts. Here are some examples of ways we use creativity in Lakeshore, Ontario:
1. In order to get kids excited about reading books, ask questions like “What does this book tell us about life?” Or “How did you come across this information?” These types of questions help students connect their personal experience to the knowledge presented in the book. Students often start sharing stories about themselves or other real-life experiences related to what was discussed in class. Ask them why these ideas are relevant in today’s world. This provides a deeper understanding of the topic and helps children see connections between scientific topics and everyday life.
2. When working on problem solving exercises, we teach students that science isn’t only about finding solutions—science is really about asking lots of questions. So ask yourself, “What is my question about this concept? Is there a better way to present it?” If yes, then keep questioning and explore different perspectives until you find something that helps your student solve the puzzle. For instance, instead of simply explaining evolution, try showing photos of dinosaurs. Instead of just talking about plants, show pictures of trees and flowers. Show videos online and talk through each frame to highlight key points. By doing things differently, you can engage students who would otherwise have lost interest. And most importantly, by being creative in your presentation, you will encourage students to become curious explorers rather than passive receivers. They will begin thinking critically, and learning becomes fun.
3. One thing that really drives me crazy is hearing teachers complain that “there aren’t enough textbooks available to meet needs” or “we don’t have enough labs to prepare students properly.
In addition, this report outlines some of the challenges associated with teaching this content and offers suggestions for ways to improve student engagement while increasing teacher satisfaction.
Finally, recommendations made at the end of the report include potential solutions which would benefit Grade 9 and beyond learners. These strategies aim to promote active and enjoyable learning experiences, increase motivation for school work and overall academic achievement.
Key Takeaways:
Teaching science is challenging because most subjects are abstract concepts. Students often find science especially complicated, particularly when they struggle understanding the basics like chemistry and physics. As well, many children dislike biology due to its perceived lack of relevance to other disciplines. Science is usually taught after English, French or math classes, making these subjects harder to master than those studied earlier. However, the Canadian government requires all high schools teach science and technology courses by the end of grade twelve; therefore, teachers must be prepared to tackle these challenging subject areas.
To help overcome this obstacle, private tutoring services should offer students personalized attention and support at an appropriate level depending on their needs. Private tutoring sessions are typically longer and more intensive than classroom instruction allowing tutors to cover material with greater depth.
Private tutors offer individualized lessons tailored to meet each child’s unique educational goals. Tutors should understand the subject matter, use effective instructional tools, adapt their approach according to student interest and personality traits as well as address any personal struggles the student faces during class. For example, they could provide extra practice tests outside of scheduled class times to ensure students develop mastery prior to exams and encourage problem solving approaches to solve problems.
Tutors should always focus on student interests and provide engaging and interactive materials, games, videos, and projects. They also should model positive behaviors like perseverance and persistence.

Who Should Adopt TutorOne’s Tutoring Methodology?
Every parent knows that the average public school education system has its faults, but few know that there are alternatives. Every year, parents become educated more about the effectiveness of individualizing children’s education. They understand that learning styles and learning strategies vary greatly among students and that students require additional focus and encouragement to excel, especially in subjects such as math, science, and reading. Students learn differently than adults; children absorb knowledge faster and retain it longer than adults can; and they’re less prone to procrastination. TutorOne’s comprehensive approach teaches kids to think positively, and teaches students when they don’t perform up to par.
Testimonial By A Parent Like You
"My son recently turned 15, and started taking Advanced Placement exams. He was doing quite poorly in Spanish II and English III, having scored only a 2 and 3 respectively. With one week left before he needed to take the AP test, I decided to enroll him in TutorOne Private Tutoring. His teacher had told me that he was a bright kid, but just didn’t put forth the effort required to excel. My son came home every day telling me about the amazing learning experience he was having with TutorOne. He did score a 4 on his Spanish II test, and his overall grade point average went from a 2.9 (D) to a 4.8 (A+) in Spanish, and a 1.7 (F) to a 4.0 (A) in English. Most importantly though, my son learned to love his studies and got a kick out of seeing his grades soaring. It was truly eye opening to see how one lesson per week changed everything." ~ Lisa H.,Parent, California
