When I’m teaching, I try to focus on helping my students become independent thinkers, and this begins well ahead of class time. My teaching methods revolve around making my lessons interactive, asking questions to help my pupils develop strategies to solve problems on their own. When working with kids, I always remember that language isn’t just something that makes us learn better academically; it’s also crucial in building relationships and establishing trust.“
“I’ve found that most schools aren’t prepared for 21st century communication and technology: They’re still stuck thinking like it was 1999. We have to teach students critical literacy that goes beyond grammar rules or spelling formulas, because today, everyone uses words differently, especially online. As a result, I ask myself every day ’how can I connect with my students?’ And there is no tool available to me to measure whether or not I am connected. So instead, I use my creativity to figure that out!“
“We used to talk to each other through writing; nowadays texting seems like the easiest way to communicate. Texting, however, does pose some risks — such as cyberbullying— which might cause teens to feel anxious or upset after receiving text messages filled with hate speech. These negative experiences could discourage teenagers from ever wanting to engage with texts again, leaving them without the confidence to express themselves.
I had just started my lesson, but I couldn’t get him talking, he kept staring off into space. Then his phone rang. It must be someone else calling him back home, so I went back to work grading papers and reading books. He came back a few minutes later looking relieved that the call ended. “What happened?” “My mom’s sick,” he answered quietly.
“Oh no!” I exclaimed. It wasn’t until then that I realized this kid was struggling to understand me because he was thinking about his mother being sick. My eyes immediately got teary as he explained his situation and the importance of getting better grades. We talked through some options, he agreed to go home early and study. When we finished, he thanked me profusely. His mother is still sick though, which means he won’t have any homework tonight. But he’ll definitely come back next week ready to learn English again.

“Hello.” “Hey!” “Howdy!“
When someone greets you, they say hello. When someone calls you, they use hey instead of hi. If you meet an old friend, you’d probably call him/her Hey! If you see someone who looks interesting, you might greet them by saying Howdy!
If you’re meeting someone new, you’ll usually just introduce yourself by giving your first name. If you want to show respect for someone else you can simply say Hi!
“Thank yo-” “Thanks”, “No thanks”, “I’m fine”. These are examples of ways to thank someone politely. Saying no or I’m fine can sound rude. So try to avoid those unless you really mean it.
To ask if something belongs to someone (a coat, bag, phone, car), you’ll say “Do you own this?” (not Do you have this?) For example, “Does he own his bike?”
For questions that are answered yes or no, you should use ‘yes’ or ’no’. But sometimes you may need to use other options, such as, “Can I borrow this?”
“What can I get ya?”. This phrase is commonly heard in restaurants, stores, bars.

How did I end up in this situation??? We had just spent 4 days exploring beautiful Cape Town, South Africa, only to wake up Monday morning to find out that my son suffered severe injuries after falling down some stairs. Luckily, he was awake but confused and suffering pain during the entire ordeal. Our trip ended abruptly, and my husband immediately decided to drive back home without him....I guess his subconscious felt that since he wasn’t physically hurt, it must be okay?? So, our family went through quite a few emotions and thoughts before making the decision whether or not we should leave him behind. At first, we did not feel comfortable leaving him. He was our priority, but then we thought of other things like paying bills, buying groceries, fixing dinner, etc. But then again, our priorities changed. As an adult, we always put ourselves before anyone else. When your parents become elderly, they begin relying on children; therefore, you can see why our thoughts shifted to “what would happen if something happened to us.” My father suffered an accident once in which he broke both arms and wrists....We left him because no one knew how long he’d stay alive. His heart stopped twice during the fall, meaning he could either die or live. As far as we’re concerned, he chose to live.....So, my question to everyone reading this post is......“Why wouldn’t you ever consider letting someone stay with you?” Why wouldn’t you let someone help care for and take responsibility for another human being? I’m still trying to understand why people say no when they mean yes.......

Here are some common questions asked by parents regarding home schooling:
Are my children getting enough homework? We ask that every child completes 2 hours per day minimum. Most homeschooling families find their kids get 3–4 hours daily which varies widely from family to family and grade level. However, most families enjoy seeing their kiddos complete additional academic work after school. Homework should cover topics that help enhance the curriculum taught at school. Homeschooled children often spend extra time studying subjects that aren’t offered in class because those areas are being taught less frequently in schools today. A parent must approve the homework assignments created by his/her child’s teacher(s). If a lesson does not include material covered in their assigned book study, then the assignment cannot proceed until approved by the homeschooling parent”¦ and vice versa. Do I provide snacks for my kids? While many people feel that homemade lunches are unhealthy, there really isn’t anything better than good old fashioned cookies when hunger strikes. Some popular ideas for snack ideas include applesauce, bananas and grapes cut in half and frozen individually. If you desire something healthy and sweet try cutting strawberries and blueberries into quarters, drizzling honey, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla extract on top then freezing.

Who Should Adopt TutorOne’s Tutoring Methodology?
Every parent knows that the average public school education system has its faults, but few know that there are alternatives. Every year, parents become educated more about the effectiveness of individualizing children’s education. They understand that learning styles and learning strategies vary greatly among students and that students require additional focus and encouragement to excel, especially in subjects such as math, science, and reading. Students learn differently than adults; children absorb knowledge faster and retain it longer than adults can; and they’re less prone to procrastination. TutorOne’s comprehensive approach teaches kids to think positively, and teaches students when they don’t perform up to par.
Testimonial By A Parent Like You
"My son recently turned 15, and started taking Advanced Placement exams. He was doing quite poorly in Spanish II and English III, having scored only a 2 and 3 respectively. With one week left before he needed to take the AP test, I decided to enroll him in TutorOne Private Tutoring. His teacher had told me that he was a bright kid, but just didn’t put forth the effort required to excel. My son came home every day telling me about the amazing learning experience he was having with TutorOne. He did score a 4 on his Spanish II test, and his overall grade point average went from a 2.9 (D) to a 4.8 (A+) in Spanish, and a 1.7 (F) to a 4.0 (A) in English. Most importantly though, my son learned to love his studies and got a kick out of seeing his grades soaring. It was truly eye opening to see how one lesson per week changed everything." ~ Lisa H.,Parent, California
