Special Needs Tutoring Pembroke FAQs
We offer our clients the ability to search through thousands of teachers across Canada to find those who can provide their student with personalized attention. Our clients then get matched with these tutors based on their specific criteria. For example: age range, gender, grade level, language(s), and subject areas.
If you’re interested in a particular teacher but aren’t 100% confident that she/he is the one for your child, feel free to contact us and ask. If your concerns are addressed appropriately, you’ll most certainly be happy with your choice.
In addition to that, we’ve got lots for parents to keep themselves busy during school hours.
At Tutor One, we understand just how critical early intervention services and education play towards helping special needs students become productive adults – which is why most of our employees come across as dedicated educators. After working alongside our staff members and seeing first hand everything they can offer to students, parents will agree that our instructors love coming through the doors every day because they truly feel valued and appreciated; qualities which help drive exceptional customer service outcomes for both teachers and clients alike.
We believe everyone should get equal opportunities regardless of race, religion, disability status or gender identity. So, whether you’re a newcomer, returning student or a lifelong learner, we welcome you back to Pembroke College and hope to see you soon. And, hey, if this isn’t your area yet, no problem – we’ll be opening plenty of new schools around the Province for the next few years so stay tuned! We always say, “the sky’s the limit” but sometimes we forget to remind ourselves of that fact before we head high above!
Tutor One believes that every child matters and deserves quality instruction, support and encouragement from certified teachers trained to work with individuals and families whose children experience significant learning differences including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, dyslexia, sensory processing disorder, specific language impairment, intellectual or cognitive delays, visual impairments/dyslexia.
So far, our Pembroke LDC instructors teach children who range anywhere from 2 weeks to 10+ years.
What differentiates our curriculum from those offered elsewhere? First of all, we strive to deliver specialized instructional materials tailored for individual learning profiles rather than cookie cutter textbooks or workbooks used in standard classrooms.

Title Of Presentation: “How do I get my company recognized as best place to work in America?”
Topic & Timeframe: June 5th 9am EST / 12pm PST
Presenter Name(s): Michael J. O’Hara
Organization: www.mjoharaplanning.net
Description: As we enter 2020, the question remains, how many small companies do you see on top lists like Forbes Most Challenged Brands list, Glassdoor’s Top Companies List, etc.? Many people would argue that the majority of small business owners fail because they either lack focus or fail with execution. But what if instead of focusing solely on the numbers game of sales and profits, we started paying attention to employee morale and satisfaction, customer relationships, community involvement, and other non-quantifiable factors that make it easier to attract talent, retain employees, develop customers, and succeed overall? What could these companies be doing better than the rest? These questions led me to explore best places to work across industries. Through research, analysis and feedback from thousands of participants around the country, I have identified four primary areas to look at: culture fit, leadership, engagement, and compensation.

2. Find Ways They Can Help Themselves: You’d be surprised how often special needs children find solutions to things themselves without needing assistance from adults. If you spot something like this during your lesson, encourage your student to try and see how far he/she gets.
3. Be Flexible & Adaptable: You should always strive to adapt your teaching approach to meet the individual needs of your students. Don’t just stick to what feels comfortable; instead, use your experience and knowledge to identify ways your lessons could improve.
4. Use Games As Tools Of Instruction: One way to engage young learners in the classroom is through games. These types of tools allow for hands-on, real life experiences that can teach valuable concepts to both the teacher AND the learner. Try incorporating some fun activities into your lesson plans, so everyone learns together!
5. Make Sure They Have Accessible Material: It’s always good to provide material accessible enough for all of your students — regardless of age or physical ability, but especially for those who are visually impaired or physically unable to read a textbook. If possible, print copies of materials ahead of class and place them around the room so your kids can easily refer back to key points during their study period.
Your Guide to Finding Special Needs Children
TutorOne offers a wide range of services designed to support your child’s education. From online classes to one-to-one mentoring, our experts are ready to work alongside parents and teachers to develop a personalized solution to fit every family’s unique situation.
This isn’t just the case for people living with autism spectrum disorders but anyone who struggles socially, physically, mentally, emotionally, or academically.
We believe all these issues should be addressed through education and tutoring programs like the ones provided by Tutor One Canada’s Learning Centre Program. Our program provides a comprehensive range of services to support families and educators alike in order to ensure that these special learners reach their fullest potential.
At this time, I’m writing about my personal experience with learning about my son who was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome when he was 3 years old. He had many difficulties in school but was determined to learn everything that his teachers taught him. His parents decided to send him to tutoring sessions for extra help and they found Tutor One. My son loved going to TutorOne for help and he would go twice per week afterschool hours until we moved away from Toronto in 2014. We moved back home to Pembroke ON and my husband got a job as a bus driver so that meant I was taking care of both of our sons fulltime again. I started to worry about how I could keep my son busy during the day and still have a life outside of being a mother. So, I went online to see what else was available. After searching for several different websites, I came across TutorOne. At first glance, I thought “Oh no” because most sites looked very similar to TutorOne. However, the moment I saw the difference in their website design and customer service I knew that this company offered something special. Their staff are professional yet personable; they understand how stressful raising a child with special needs must feel and they offer solutions that fit your family needs.
I am happy with the way they helped me.
To address this issue, a tutor should work closely with the school board, parent groups, local community organizations and private schools offering specialized services for special needs kids. Here are ways in which tutoring companies like Tutor1 can support this cause:
Provide professional training sessions
Tutor1 offers online courses and workshops for tutors to improve their skills and learn tips & tricks to teach more efficiently. These classes include topics related to teaching methods and communication skills for effective interactions, as well as strategies to increase student motivation.
Supporting parent groups
When a parent group notices that their child seems slow, they approach the tutor company asking for support. If possible, one of the trained tutors visits the home of the child, conducts interviews with family members and helps parents better comprehend issues surrounding behavioral concerns.
Develop partnerships
If a child appears to struggle academically, parents usually seek for guidance on how to tackle specific subjects. For example, some parents ask about how their son or daughter could get started on reading comprehension, math computation, spelling words or vocabulary. When tutors are able to provide customized instruction tailored toward individual needs, families are relieved knowing their children aren’t getting left behind.
Include the community
School boards are known to host events that bring together volunteers with special needs kids. During these occasions, volunteer tutors visit classrooms, interact with students and answer questions posed by their parents.
We offer services like homework help, test preparation, after school support, SAT/ ACT prep classes & other academic subjects like Math, English, Science, History, Government & Economics; plus sports coaching, life skill development, special interest classes and many more. We provide personal service every step of the way. Our unique approach has helped thousands of families achieve excellence in their child’s education.
Whether you’re struggling academically in grade 9 and 10, preparing for exams like the PSAT / SSAT or SSSC, studying for AP tests, or just trying to improve overall understanding of school topics and material, we offer comprehensive program options for children aged 11 years old and older who struggle to complete high level course work and excel on standardized tests, due to specific disabilities. With personalized instruction specifically tailored to address difficulties in reading comprehension, math concepts, test taking strategies and knowledge gaps we’ve seen repeatedly crop up despite repeated attempts to seek outside solutions the student finds confusing and unsuccessful. By utilizing evidence-based approaches backed by research, this method provides consistent improvement that most schools simply cannot replicate, especially given the immense challenge facing parents in dealing with their own kids’ struggles in various areas of schoolwork.
By focusing on developing independent problem solving ability through engaging practice in these critical subject areas, our methods promote growth in self confidence, motivation and independence which are crucial for all young people regardless of disability status. Through positive reinforcement via praise notes, certificates and regular contact, the TutorOne experience reinforces intrinsic motivations and promotes resilience across all individuals served, helping them move forward with increased capacity for success.
We provide educational content in various formats like audio & video podcasts, digital books, mobile apps, webinars, quizzes & tests. We offer online training videos along with live trainings on Skype for Business Online. Our trainers include experienced professionals having expertise related to different industries including IT Services, BPO / KPO / Digital Marketing, HR Consulting / Recruitment and Academic Consultancy. All sessions conducted by subject matter experts at your convenience anywhere anytime of the day 24/7! Enroll today to gain knowledge and become certified.
As of June 2016 only 5% of schools offer education programs designed specifically for teenagers with emotional disabilities like depression, anxiety, eating disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), bipolar condition, post traumatic stress syndrome, obsessive compulsive symptoms, borderline personality disorders, among many other conditions. It was estimated a whopping 95 percent of students struggle with some form of mental health issue at least once in their life and often these struggles go unnoticed until they reach the teen years. These issues should be taken seriously because they cause difficulties in school, peer relationships, employment and self confidence, which could impact academic achievement and lifelong well being. Having someone outside of one’s immediate family whom understands this unique situation and supports you and your child can play a crucial role in building strong coping strategies, improving motivation and developing resilience.

For some reason people still struggle with the idea of hiring professionals to assist their kid(children). I am going to shed light on this issue and bring some good news. Yes, most of these service providers (especially those that specialize in teaching autistic children) charge high fees but when it comes down to it they work diligently everyday just to keep the wheels turning smoothly in order to achieve excellence. They spend countless hours researching, practicing and honing their craft.

Who Should Adopt TutorOne’s Tutoring Methodology?
Every parent knows that the average public school education system has its faults, but few know that there are alternatives. Every year, parents become educated more about the effectiveness of individualizing children’s education. They understand that learning styles and learning strategies vary greatly among students and that students require additional focus and encouragement to excel, especially in subjects such as math, science, and reading. Students learn differently than adults; children absorb knowledge faster and retain it longer than adults can; and they’re less prone to procrastination. TutorOne’s comprehensive approach teaches kids to think positively, and teaches students when they don’t perform up to par.
Testimonial By A Parent Like You
"My son recently turned 15, and started taking Advanced Placement exams. He was doing quite poorly in Spanish II and English III, having scored only a 2 and 3 respectively. With one week left before he needed to take the AP test, I decided to enroll him in TutorOne Private Tutoring. His teacher had told me that he was a bright kid, but just didn’t put forth the effort required to excel. My son came home every day telling me about the amazing learning experience he was having with TutorOne. He did score a 4 on his Spanish II test, and his overall grade point average went from a 2.9 (D) to a 4.8 (A+) in Spanish, and a 1.7 (F) to a 4.0 (A) in English. Most importantly though, my son learned to love his studies and got a kick out of seeing his grades soaring. It was truly eye opening to see how one lesson per week changed everything." ~ Lisa H.,Parent, California

TutorOne is committed to the belief that every student thrives best in a positive, fun-loving, nurturing learning environment.
