There’s still lots and lots of research going on around Autism Spectrum Disorder and other special needs disorders. As well, new treatments are being developed every day to improve the lives of those affected by these conditions.
If your child struggles with learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia, or other developmental issues like speech impediments, then finding qualified tutoring professionals who specialize in these areas can be challenging. However, when seeking assistance, don’t just pick the first person off the street; instead, try searching for someone locally. After all, you wouldn’t go for a dentist without checking around first, and why should it be different with your local tutor? Here’s a quick rundown of some ways to search for a good fit in Cayuga.
1) Searching Local Websites/Social Networks
There are a lot of websites available that allow people to advertise for tutoring jobs online. Some of these sites include Facebook groups, Twitter pages, forums and job boards. If you are lucky enough to stumble upon something interesting, check out that group or page and see if anyone else posted their availability. You should always be careful when accepting offers from strangers though because they can often ask you to pay upfront in order to get started with lessons. Instead, consider contacting tutors through professional sites like LinkedIn, or asking friends or family members for recommendations.
2) Checking Out Online Reviews and References
When choosing a new tutoring service provider, you’ll definitely want to read reviews about any company you’re considering working with. These reviews can come from parents, teachers or students themselves. They provide valuable insight into whether or not the business is reputable and what type of experience the tutors bring to the table. Additionally, it helps ensure that you aren’t getting taken advantage of by a fly-by-night operation.
3) Hitting Up Your Community Resources
Finally, you could always contact Cayuga schools, libraries, community centers, churches and organizations directly to learn more about local programs and services that cater specifically to children with special needs.
• I am interested in working with families whose children struggle with reading, writing and/or mathematics because they lack motivation and interest. As well, parents often say things like ‘I just wish he would learn faster but he won’t listen to anyone. He hates being told anything and refuses to sit still long enough for me to teach him’ when talking about their child. My goal is to encourage everyone around them including teachers, friends & relatives to understand why some children seem to struggle with certain subjects and provide guidance so they become better learners themselves. And ultimately, we want every student with special needs to find happiness, acceptance and inclusion in life with minimal barriers and obstacles.

When parents find out that their child has a disability, many times they feel overwhelmed and confused. This confusion leads to feelings of guilt and helplessness and they tend to avoid getting involved with schools and social services altogether. However, this shouldn’t be the case. Instead, families should seek assistance early on through local agencies. Parents shouldn’t wait until something is going wrong in order to intervene. If you see signs of trouble, speak up immediately. Early intervention ensures that children receive proper treatment and support, improving academic growth significantly.
Tutor One offers specialized training programs designed specifically for individuals working with children with special education needs. Our qualified instructors provide personalized instruction in reading, writing, math, science, language arts, technology and behavior management. We understand how challenging this type of teaching can be for both adults and students. Therefore, every instructor undergoes rigorous background checks ensuring safety and reliability.
We train educators on how best practices can impact the daily life of a person who struggles with cognitive limitations or behaviors that are often misunderstood and sometimes ignored. One way that helps families cope emotionally with the condition is seeking specialized care providers that include psychologists, psychiatrists, speech therapists and OT/PT specialists who give personalized instruction specifically to help these youngsters develop. These professionals provide therapies including educational planning, early intervention programs, behavioral techniques, therapeutic play therapy, visual aids or tools used in working with young ones. All of these strategies are meant to teach coping mechanisms through sensory stimuli and assist with self reliance thus promoting improvement in skills and abilities.
1. Prepare for the upcoming school year mentally
2. Have some tools available
3. Be ready to deal with certain situations and emotions
4. Find ways to encourage participation
5. Build partnerships
I know that every family experiences adversity in their lives but when they find themselves dealing with these issues in the classroom setting, it can get very tiring. However, one thing most people fail to keep in mind is that children aren’t born perfect. As parents and educators, we often tend to forget that sometimes things happen to children without making sense. We must learn to accept the difficulties that come hand in hand with being human beings instead of focusing solely on the problem itself. Remembering this fact helps us move past this kind of negativity and focus primarily on giving back and helping other people as well as ourselves.
This topic is quite interesting because one day, someone else’s child may become yours due to life events....

1. Experience level required – Some teachers are better than others. For example, some teach through visual aids, like videos; however, other types rely heavily on memorization which takes away the quality of teaching. Teachers who love teaching should always be considered because they are passionate about educating children and enjoy mentoring kids toward achievement. They often possess specific educational backgrounds relevant to the subject area being taught. Teachers can learn things outside of just academic knowledge as well, like artistry in design, history, music or sports expertise.
2. Availability & proximity to student location – Parents will spend much of the day attending appointments and traveling around town, especially during vacation times. Depending on whether this happens at home, work, during class hours or after-school/after-worktime, students could miss days of instruction. Furthermore, teachers would generally travel long distances, which limits flexibility of scheduling since every weekdays are different schedules for most people. As a result, distance affects the amount of homework completed, the ability to practice or attend extracurricular activities. Therefore, it makes sense that having the teacher near their own house increases the likelihood towards completion of assignments, attendance, and participation.
3. Student schedule – Most students have varying levels of activity across multiple daily intervals. Whether they wake early or go to bed late depends upon several conditions, including family obligations, school schedules, weather patterns, and personal preferences. However, these events typically happen only once per weekday meaning that many subjects receive little attention. If a kid wakes up earlier for school, he/she could get less sleep. Similarly, teens going to bed earlier reduces opportunities to study (which makes completing coursework challenging). Students often experience similar events occurring only once a few days per week.

Who Should Adopt TutorOne’s Tutoring Methodology?
Every parent knows that the average public school education system has its faults, but few know that there are alternatives. Every year, parents become educated more about the effectiveness of individualizing children’s education. They understand that learning styles and learning strategies vary greatly among students and that students require additional focus and encouragement to excel, especially in subjects such as math, science, and reading. Students learn differently than adults; children absorb knowledge faster and retain it longer than adults can; and they’re less prone to procrastination. TutorOne’s comprehensive approach teaches kids to think positively, and teaches students when they don’t perform up to par.
Testimonial By A Parent Like You
"My son recently turned 15, and started taking Advanced Placement exams. He was doing quite poorly in Spanish II and English III, having scored only a 2 and 3 respectively. With one week left before he needed to take the AP test, I decided to enroll him in TutorOne Private Tutoring. His teacher had told me that he was a bright kid, but just didn’t put forth the effort required to excel. My son came home every day telling me about the amazing learning experience he was having with TutorOne. He did score a 4 on his Spanish II test, and his overall grade point average went from a 2.9 (D) to a 4.8 (A+) in Spanish, and a 1.7 (F) to a 4.0 (A) in English. Most importantly though, my son learned to love his studies and got a kick out of seeing his grades soaring. It was truly eye opening to see how one lesson per week changed everything." ~ Lisa H.,Parent, California
