Special Needs Tutoring Otonabee-South Monaghan FAQs
Don’t leave home without them...
When dealing with the stress associated with teaching special needs kids, parents usually seek answers outside themselves. They often seek guidance through other qualified teachers. If they find the experience overwhelming then sometimes they resort to contacting family members or friends who specialize in assisting with special education issues. Parents of these families feel better knowing someone else knows exactly what’s going on because they understand things differently than normal school systems or professionals.
These people would most likely refer to those individuals as special education consultants. Consultants often act as a liaison between regular educators and the special needs student. Sometimes, consultancies take extra measures to ensure safety of the general population including parents and staff. Some times they work directly with special ed classes which creates less risk to the rest of the institution. Consultant teachers play a vital role in schools. Not only helping teach special programs but making connections and recommendations among fellow educators that could lead to bigger opportunities down the road. These relationships allow special educations teachers to collaborate effectively and increase productivity. A great example of this relationship is when a consultant meets regularly with department heads and gives input regarding changes, initiatives, or modifications affecting her/his students.
If you’re struggling at home and don’t know what to do, contact Consultancy Services. Many parents rely on specialists in order to provide assistance due to lack of knowledge, understanding, support, or encouragement. Our services include consulting, therapy, evaluation, assessment, intervention, counseling, supervision and consultation. At Tutor One, you are always welcome regardless of level of experience and whether you come to us through private referrals or via local agencies.
And according to an article published today in the Globe & Mail newspaper, “the rate of kids diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder rose nearly 50 per cent between 2005 and 2012.“[2]
So what does this mean for you? Does the fact that there are more people who have an ASD mean that they’re harder to find or hire than ever before? And if so, should you consider hiring someone outside of your community for a special needs child? Or would you rather stick to local hires?
We’ve compiled some tips below to provide insight on this complex topic:
Where Do I Start Looking For Someone Who Can Help My Child?
When searching online, the first place most parents go these days is Facebook to see who else has posted photos or videos of their “autistic” kid. But be careful!
While it seems like it makes sense to use social networks to get recommendations from friends and family, you could easily wind up being inundated with people offering advice, services, and products that aren’t relevant to your situation, or worse yet, scams trying to sell something.
If you want to see real profiles of families with autistic children, try visiting sites like http://www.specialneedsfamilies.org/, which lists hundreds of support groups around North America.
How Much Should I Charge?
This question really depends entirely upon the type of job you want, but we can offer two basic rules of thumb: charge less than half the average hourly wage you expect to receive for similar work in your town, and keep your fees consistent over time.
In other words: If you’re charging $25/hour, then your minimum fee is going to be $12.50 per hour.
Special Education in Canada
Canada ranks third globally and first in North America for children experiencing early childhood education. Canada spends 8% less per capita than other OECD countries; however, the Canadian Early Childhood Educators Association states that “the majority of families spend 10 times more on child care than they would on private tuition”[1]. Despite these statistics, many educators feel underappreciated, especially those who work in rural communities. According to Statistics Canada, only 15% of schools offer support programs specifically for children with disabilities.[2]
In response to this gap, The Ontario Ministry of Children & Youth Services offers financial assistance through the Accessibility Fund Program for eligible individuals whose disability prevents full participation in regular school classes. These funds allow parents, teachers, caregivers, educators and community members to improve accessibility and inclusion opportunities for children with disabilities, including but not exclusive to developmental delays, hearing impairment, intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, visual impairments/blindness etc. [3]
How Do Parents Find Support Teachers?
Many parents find information regarding services available to assist their child by visiting local service providers, contacting school boards and government offices, online search engines and word of mouth referrals. Unfortunately some services are not always easily accessible due to location, age and language barriers that restrict parents from accessing certain services. A parent might be required to travel hundreds or thousands of kilometers to visit the closest specialist centre to ensure appropriate services are offered, which is often impractical or financially prohibitive. Many people rely upon family and friends to provide guidance and recommendations. When seeking specialized assistance outside the home environment, parents must be prepared for long waiting lists and high fees.
While this class isn’t always available during regular hours, we try to accommodate parents’ requests whenever possible. For families requiring assistance outside of normal business hours please contact me here.
Special needs programs aren’t just confined to schools in Otonabee-Southern Monaghan; they’re found around Canada. If you would prefer a smaller group setting with less structure than a mainstream classroom environment, check out our Private Lessons program, offering 1on1, small groups and online sessions tailored specifically to your child/students.
Here are five ways we’ve tried to address common problems associated with educating children with disabilities:
1.) A consistent schedule helps keep things organized & predictable. It ensures that everyone knows what day’s assignments must be turned in and when tests take place.
2.) Regular practice keeps students sharp mentally and increases academic achievement. Regular breaks allow children to recharge both physically and socially and gives everyone else a break from constant study.
3.) Smaller lesson sizes help teachers stay close enough to see every student but still leave ample time for discussion & questions. These lessons are ideal for busy parents whose kids get restless easily.
4.) Classroom management techniques give parents the peace of mind knowing their child is well looked after during the entire session. Students who learn better under structured environments tend to perform better overall. They’ll enjoy being part of something fun and engaging without feeling lost amongst unfamiliar peers.
5.) Group discussions encourage participation from all members of the class. Kids with autism love interacting with their fellow classmates, especially in a situation where they won’t feel intimidated or left behind.
How Does This Affect My Child? Students diagnosed with dyslexia face significant academic obstacles related to problem areas including comprehension, handwriting, spelling, math computation, spatial awareness, memory recall, and auditory discrimination, although they tend to be able to compensate for other deficiencies well. As a result, children with dyslexia must work extra hard just to get the same grade levels as peers without special needs, which makes it challenging to catch back up once they fall behind...
Will I Have Enough Time to Help my Student Learn If They Have Dyslexia? We recommend having 50 minutes per day or more depending upon the severity of symptoms so that every student receives time dedicated solely to teaching and remediation.
Can I Work From Home as a Tutoring Service Provider? Can I Deliver Online Learning? Yes, but keep in mind online instruction takes on average twice as long compared to traditional classroom instruction due to less interaction and increased demands on attention span. Consequently, it requires two-to-three times longer hours of training and support.
In 2014 after launching our website in Canada, we expanded our business to become a global company and offer online courses in every continent of the globe including Australia, New Zealand, Africa, South Asia, Europe, Middle East & USA.. We currently teach thousands of learners around the world on different topics ranging from English Language, Business Communication Skills, Spanish language course and many other subjects.
We believe that everyone deserves to gain something valuable whether working professionals or regular civilians. People often struggle in making decisions due to lack of choices offered; hence we strive to create quality educational products and services to aid decision makers in choosing which product suits them accordingly. Not only this, but when purchasing a service/product they usually tend to forget why they bought it, thus we always advise buyers to try it first.

Here are several examples of the types of subjects that you could teach: Reading; Writing; Math; Science; French; Spanish; Chinese; History; Geography; Art.
We offer both half hour and full hour lessons depending on the type of subject taught. For example, most learners find math easier to understand when explained visually through pictures rather than just relying on written equations. Additionally, many people struggle reading comprehension or understanding spoken word due to poor listening skills. These problems can be easily fixed by working together to identify areas where improvement was necessary by having a conversation, taking turns speaking during the lesson so everyone understands the material presented, or simply practicing with different accents or foreign languages until they feel comfortable. We pride ourselves on being able to achieve excellent educational results despite the difficulties encountered by children living with disabilities through dedicated tutors. We focus exclusively on educating children with special needs and aim at helping individuals excel in life after graduating highschool. We strive to ensure every child receives equal opportunities regardless of his/her disability and have developed customized teaching programs that fit the abilities and interests of each student. Who Should Adopt TutorOne’s Tutoring Methodology?
Every parent knows that the average public school education system has its faults, but few know that there are alternatives. Every year, parents become educated more about the effectiveness of individualizing children’s education. They understand that learning styles and learning strategies vary greatly among students and that students require additional focus and encouragement to excel, especially in subjects such as math, science, and reading. Students learn differently than adults; children absorb knowledge faster and retain it longer than adults can; and they’re less prone to procrastination. TutorOne’s comprehensive approach teaches kids to think positively, and teaches students when they don’t perform up to par.
Testimonial By A Parent Like You
"My son recently turned 15, and started taking Advanced Placement exams. He was doing quite poorly in Spanish II and English III, having scored only a 2 and 3 respectively. With one week left before he needed to take the AP test, I decided to enroll him in TutorOne Private Tutoring. His teacher had told me that he was a bright kid, but just didn’t put forth the effort required to excel. My son came home every day telling me about the amazing learning experience he was having with TutorOne. He did score a 4 on his Spanish II test, and his overall grade point average went from a 2.9 (D) to a 4.8 (A+) in Spanish, and a 1.7 (F) to a 4.0 (A) in English. Most importantly though, my son learned to love his studies and got a kick out of seeing his grades soaring. It was truly eye opening to see how one lesson per week changed everything." ~ Lisa H.,Parent, California
The TutorOne Difference

TutorOne is committed to the belief that every student thrives best in a positive, fun-loving, nurturing learning environment. We encourage our students to explore new ideas and engage in hands-on learning situations. The TutorOne Difference is about creating an engaging atmosphere in which kids feel motivated to excel. The majority of TutorOne schools operate as small academies; they offer individual learning environments that allow students to interact within a group or with one-to-one tutors.
