I am going to reveal my top 3 secrets to get better grades faster in less amount of time at my local tutoring centre, Langdon, which happens to be my hometown!
Langdon is a small town located south of Edmonton along Highway 11 near the city limits of Sherwood Park, AB.
We offer tuition services to both home schooled kids as well as adults who would like to gain fluency in French quickly through intensive weekly lessons.
So why should you learn French?
1. Learn Languages is Not Enough for Today’s World - Study Abroad, International Career Opportunities
2. Learn languages gives us flexibility and opportunities outside of our own country/culture, which is always beneficial no matter where you live.
3. Learning another culture opens doors to many career opportunities. It provides unique insight into different cultures and lifestyles and helps broaden perspective in one’s life experiences.
4. If you’re interested in travelling internationally (which I highly recommend), knowing the basics of other countries’ culture will allow you to navigate around and experience things beyond just sightseeing and shopping.
5. Knowing foreign dialects will increase your chances at meeting people from various background/cultures. And having some basic knowledge of how they talk will help bridge gaps and ease communication barriers.
6. Language study teaches critical thinking, problem solving and creative thinking, especially useful tools to master today’s ever changing global world.
7. It makes you stand apart amongst international professionals.
8. A strong foundation in several languages will provide you with an advantage over those without.
9. Speaking multiple languages increases your ability to communicate effectively both verbally and nonverbally.
10. Speaking one particular language is easier when you speak several others.
11.
If your family resides outside of an official French speaking region, you’ve probably already thought through similar topics. However, with increasing immigration rates across North America, teaching children foreign languages like French will become increasingly crucial for success in business, education, personal growth, international relations & travel, health care, law enforcement, engineering, science, medicine, technology, journalism, and other fields that rely heavily on understanding a global marketplace.
While some may be surprised to hear these words coming from the mouth of someone who lives in French speaking territory, I’m proud to say the majority of the Canadian population speaks French daily. According to Statistics Canada’s 2016 Census Data released earlier this summer, roughly 9% of Canadians speak only French as their mother tongue -- meaning the vast majority live somewhere where they’re encouraged to use French every day outside of home. As a result, it makes perfect sense to understand that knowing another language would significantly improve your life by giving you the edge you’d otherwise lack as a working professional, especially given the rise of globalization, multiculturalism, and cross cultural communication. If you haven’t considered taking lessons abroad yet, you may find yourself asking “Why wait?” sooner than you expect, and by then it could mean lost career prospects, missed job openings, delayed promotion, or worse still, unemployment. All of this hinges on being able to master a foreign language skill.
Languages offer many of us a unique experience that no other subject does. Whether it’s a skill that serves as useful tool in business, helps expand personal relationships or simply makes one feel smarter because someone else understands what he says, languages provide a way for people around the world to converse without having to learn English first.
In Langdon, language learners have the ability to take advantage of several options for both academic and professional study. At the University of Lethbridge, students can enroll in courses taught entirely via online video streaming from any location worldwide. They’re able to interact with classmates across continents, making for easier discussion than could be accomplished face-to-face, regardless of distance. Courses offered include Business Administration/Management, Criminal Justice, Education, Health Studies, Human Resources, Languages Other Than English, Nursing, Psychology, Recreation Management and Sports Marketing amongst numerous others. Students interested in furthering themselves professionally after graduation should consider taking classes towards certification programs offered by the Canadian Certified Speaking Professionals Society. For example, candidates can complete CSP exams in their native tongue (such as Chinese, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Arabic), allowing learners to develop speaking abilities which will help them get hired anywhere they’d like to work. Another excellent possibility exists for individuals pursuing postgraduate studies, thanks to UofL’s International Study Centre. Their “Language, Culture & Development” program provides language training alongside research experiences in places ranging from Canada to Asia to Central America. Through such partnerships, participants gain valuable insight into how language impacts culture and vice versa.

“I’ve worked with other companies who charge high rates but leave gaps in coverage; they say “we’ll get back to you,” then forget everything after 5 minutes. I highly recommend TutorOne because I always receive follow up emails from my tutors letting me know whether I’m working well/making sense/learning something new.“— Laura G., Vancouver, BC
We can help you improve your English level! We provide individual instruction through Skype video chat. Our instructors teach people whose first language isn’t English. At approximately 8am, while visiting Stampede Park, one of Calgarians favorite festivals, I got chatting with my fellow travellers and made a few friends. My friend James had recently purchased tickets to watch his favourite band perform.
If English isn’t your first language—and who among us hasn’t begun the awkward conversation of “what makes you happy” after a few months together?!—you should seriously consider taking some French classes. After all, you won’t ever forget your life’s greatest achievement: speaking another language fluently. And, since most employers prefer candidates fluent in several languages (French being an obvious choice), you’re better prepared than ever! So what exactly does it take to master French like a native? We put together this handy infographic to explain everything from basic vocabulary to advanced grammar rules. If you decide to continue studying French beyond these introductory lessons, be sure to check out our full course selection. For those of you living in Alberta, private study sessions are available seven days per week on Monday through Friday, with a minimum commitment period of 3 weeks.* *Please note: These dates apply only to individuals seeking to enroll in our programs in Langdon. Here are just some of the options available:
French Immersion Programs
These immersion programs allow students to attend class everyday without having to worry about English comprehension issues because everything is taught in French only. These programs are excellent for anyone who wishes to learn French quickly. For example, one program offered by L’Institut Français de Toronto provides daily instruction using the methods of “active listening” and interactive discussions. Students learn conversational techniques and grammar patterns and use them during classroom exercises. Another great way to learn French is through the Quebec Method. A student enrolled in this method takes four years to reach fluency after receiving instruction every weekday morning. After completion of the course however, the student must continue taking lessons on weekends until he reaches the proficiency level required to apply for citizenship. In order to obtain full accreditation, a person must pass three written exams including reading, speaking, writing and comprehension of spoken material. Each test consists of multiple choice questions.
Non-Immersive Courses
While these programs require less commitment than immersion programs, most non-immersion programs include weekly sessions lasting approximately 20 minutes. Most courses consist of four 50 minute lesson periods per week. Lessons usually follow the same format and students receive feedback on their work from teachers immediately following class.

Who Should Adopt TutorOne’s Tutoring Methodology?
Every parent knows that the average public school education system has its faults, but few know that there are alternatives. Every year, parents become educated more about the effectiveness of individualizing children’s education. They understand that learning styles and learning strategies vary greatly among students and that students require additional focus and encouragement to excel, especially in subjects such as math, science, and reading. Students learn differently than adults; children absorb knowledge faster and retain it longer than adults can; and they’re less prone to procrastination. TutorOne’s comprehensive approach teaches kids to think positively, and teaches students when they don’t perform up to par.
Testimonial By A Parent Like You
"My son recently turned 15, and started taking Advanced Placement exams. He was doing quite poorly in Spanish II and English III, having scored only a 2 and 3 respectively. With one week left before he needed to take the AP test, I decided to enroll him in TutorOne Private Tutoring. His teacher had told me that he was a bright kid, but just didn’t put forth the effort required to excel. My son came home every day telling me about the amazing learning experience he was having with TutorOne. He did score a 4 on his Spanish II test, and his overall grade point average went from a 2.9 (D) to a 4.8 (A+) in Spanish, and a 1.7 (F) to a 4.0 (A) in English. Most importantly though, my son learned to love his studies and got a kick out of seeing his grades soaring. It was truly eye opening to see how one lesson per week changed everything." ~ Lisa H.,Parent, California
The TutorOne Difference

TutorOne is committed to the belief that every student thrives best in a positive, fun-loving, nurturing learning environment. We encourage our students to explore new ideas and engage in hands-on learning situations. The TutorOne Difference is about creating an engaging atmosphere in which kids feel motivated to excel. The majority of TutorOne schools operate as small academies; they offer individual learning environments that allow students to interact within a group or with one-to-one tutors.
