Private Lessons: Why Should I Take One?
Taking private lessons in French is actually quite common among Canadians in general. However, it isn’t always taken seriously and considered as a worthwhile endeavour. Many consider it to be nothing more than something to satisfy a certain level of interest. After all, why should someone spend thousands of dollars on something they won’t see value from? That logic, however, makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. The thing is that, the majority of us aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. And chances are, whatever opportunities lie ahead of us won’t involve moving abroad. We’d prefer sticking around and making things happen locally rather than relocating ourselves halfway across the globe. Thus, it would seem only fitting that we devote part of our lives towards acquiring useful experience with languages we hope to retain long term.
“Wally Finds A Lost Word,” by Matt Kremnitzer
This game teaches vocabulary words associated with animals and nature in English and then provides a translation into French. Kids translate the word back and forth until they understand both languages fluently. When choosing a toy/game idea like “Find Wally”, be wary of those that use phrases or expressions like “I lost him!” and “Give me back my ball!”. These imply that finding something was a challenge for the character rather than just saying the sentence literally in French. Instead, try substituting “Je ne l’ai pas trouvé.” (“I couldn’t find him.“) instead of asking “Où est ce bateau?” (’where is that boat?’). Likewise, replacing a noun phrase with its correct gender form or changing ’find’ to ’discover’, makes the task easier. For example, “Where did you discover all the little birds?”, could become “Quand tu t’es découver dans la petite maison des nouvelles oeufles”. (“When you discovered the house full of baby owls.“) Other tips include making sure a picture is attached and giving kids enough time to complete the exercise. Once the object is found, provide rewards for successfully completing the activity.

Why Take Lessons At Home When Your Child Can Be Learning From Classroom Teachers?
Learning something at school or college usually requires an environment which provides many distractions, especially during class times.
For example, the teacher cannot stop talking to her friends on WhatsApp, and she probably uses Facebook for chatting during breaks.
However, these kinds of distractions can hinder the ability of the child to concentrate well and focus on his/her studies because he/she does not see an end result after every lesson.
This might lead him/her to lose interest in studying further, thus making the whole idea pointless.
How Does One Learn A New Language Without Taking Private Lessons?
Nowadays people find themselves busy due to several commitments. They tend to put off spending extra hours doing homework at night or weekends simply because they believe they already learned enough English.
But this is actually not true. If you did not learn anything yet about the language other than reading textbooks then you really haven’t mastered the basics yet.
If you would like to speak fluently and understand conversations without having difficulty communicating effectively then you must take private lessons. You must realize that speaking another language is similar to playing a sport, but instead of practicing at school, you practice at home or wherever convenient.
There are no shortcuts. However, if you spend most of your waking minutes focusing on learning at home, eventually you’ll become good enough.
What Should An Expert Teacher Do For Better Results Than Students Who Struggle Alone?
An excellent tutor will help you improve faster, while still maintaining motivation levels high for both parties. He/She will encourage you to achieve higher grades through proper guidance and constant encouragement. Also, he/she will be able to spot those students who struggle with certain subjects early on, allowing you ample amount of time to prepare.
I began teaching French Immersion in 1985. I taught private sessions to grade 4 kids who went to both Catholic and Public schools across town. We would meet at my home office every Tuesday morning beginning September through June/ July. Kids got excited to go back and forth with me via Skype every single week, and my parents still tell stories about some memorable occasions during those years. Parents came around regularly to observe the classes and provide feedback after observing the interactions. Those same parents continued to use my services for many additional years throughout the 1990’s and 2000’s. My practice was eventually sold to another agency which then closed down and left no clients as of April 2015.
My daughter started Grade 1 French Immersion in January 2018. Her teacher used her iPad daily; she spent 3 hours every weekday in front of it, listening to music, reading books or watching movies, writing poetry or just simply playing games. On weekends, my little girl goes on walks at 8am and 9pm, usually accompanied by her mum. She attends 2 different sports teams each day at lunchtime, swimming at 11am, gymnastics at 12:30 pm, piano at 2pm, soccer at 3pm, tennis at 5pm and volleyball at 7pm. On Saturdays, she plays badminton at 10 am, swim meets at noon, piano recital at afternoon, dance class at 15 minutes and gymnastics again at 16:00. Sundays see either church attendance or visits with her dad’s family across town.
Luckily for us, most families understand that flexibility is necessary.
If you’re wondering how we provide the same high level of instruction, but still offer our services outside normal hours, then read on.
Flexibility for parents
We recognize that many families’ lives aren’t structured around taking lessons during certain times. Whether this happens because of work commitments, travel schedule, family responsibilities, or other personal factors, we want to accommodate those families who find themselves unable to attend their regular lesson time slot.
For these situations, we’re offering evening and weekend sessions, allowing students to learn at a convenient hour for them while ensuring that their teacher gets home safely and can spend quality time with his/her kids. We’ll be adding additional options soon, such as Saturday morning lessons!
Flexibility for students
Many people assume that French classes should take place only after school, but that’s far from the case. Many of our clients enjoy getting started earlier in the week, so they can get ahead on homework and study for upcoming tests. If you’ve ever found yourself saying “I wish I had taken French sooner,” then consider us!
We understand that some schools offer after-school programs to help prepare students for standardized testing, and we support their efforts. However, we also realize that for some students, the extra time spent studying is just not worth it. For example, if a parent has other priorities like working fulltime, that doesn’t mean he or she won’t value the ability to focus on his or her child’s education.
This is why we offer French tutoring for children aged 4 through 12 years old at no cost. These programs run Monday through Friday from 8am until 2pm and include a 45 minute break for lunch.
When comparing our service against the competition, we stand above due to these differences:
1.) High Quality Education Materials: Not only does our team of skilled instructors use a wide range of effective teaching techniques, but they also utilize high-quality educational materials which makes studying fun! Each lesson includes the correct pronunciation guides, conjugated verbs, vocabulary lists and reading passages. Our learning environment ensures student motivation because they always feel encouraged to ask questions or seek clarification whenever required.
2.) Personalized Service: Every person who enrolls under our tutelage receives personal attention and individual treatment. As mentioned previously, our teachers conduct regular meetings with students in real life classrooms where he/she gets to know his/her own style and progress rate. Teachers keep track of everything and send reminders regarding upcoming tests along with their weekly homework assignments.
3.) Unlimited Accessibility: At Tutor One, we understand that accessibility plays a crucial role in education. For example, people with disabilities cannot participate fully without proper accommodations. When selecting our tutors, we ensure that none of the members fall into this category.

Free French Assessment Test
To get started please follow these steps:
1.) Make yourself comfortable with the camera setup on Skype
2.) Download Skype from Microsoft Store App (if required).
3.) Create a username, create a secure passcode and enter it.
4.) Login and go to Tools > Options which gives you two options ’Video’ / ’Audio’. Click Audio first and select Video next.
5.) Select Auto Start Recording whenever someone joins/ leaves the call and ensure the box for “Autoplay recording” is selected. Otherwise just click save when you’ve completed testing and move onto step 8). Note; Autoplay recording does NOT work with screen sharing as yet but you’ll definitely notice improvements once audio is turned on because now both parties can hear each other better. Also note; Skype automatically saves recordings every 3 minutes during your test period but these can be deleted manually should you wish to delete old tests. Lastly, some computers won’t allow you to record due to privacy concerns but again, Skype will inform you immediately if they did. Once again, this only applies to tests recorded via webcam. For those who use Screen Sharing, audio cannot currently be enabled so no worries!
6.
1.) Learn
Learning a foreign language brings many rewards including improved problem solving abilities and greater self confidence. However studies show that people who have learned at least 10 different languages tend to earn higher wages. Furthermore, there’s no doubt that knowing multiple languages makes studying easier; especially for kids whose teachers expect them to excel at both reading and writing in addition to speaking and listening comprehension. So whether you’re planning for school, or college, a career in business, travel or tourism we believe every person needs to pick up another language for the sheer enjoyment.
2.) Make Friends
While making friends isn’t quite as rewarding or lucrative as increasing earnings potential it still carries tremendous value. Most importantly, meeting interesting locals who happen to speak the same language opens opportunities you wouldn’t otherwise encounter. And since most jobs today call for bilingualism, you can count on making lots of valuable contacts along the way as well. Plus being able to communicate with other cultures helps broaden your perspective and gives you a taste of life abroad. All of this adds up to better job prospects, increased chances of long term happiness and deeper meaning in your own life.
3.) Earn More Money
If you’ve ever thought “I’m fluent enough,” then perhaps it was just an excuse to avoid paying tuition fees. If you study French regularly and your proficiency level matches the required criteria you’ll save yourself $100-$200 per hour paid in tuition costs, depending upon length of class.

Who Should Adopt TutorOne’s Tutoring Methodology?
Every parent knows that the average public school education system has its faults, but few know that there are alternatives. Every year, parents become educated more about the effectiveness of individualizing children’s education. They understand that learning styles and learning strategies vary greatly among students and that students require additional focus and encouragement to excel, especially in subjects such as math, science, and reading. Students learn differently than adults; children absorb knowledge faster and retain it longer than adults can; and they’re less prone to procrastination. TutorOne’s comprehensive approach teaches kids to think positively, and teaches students when they don’t perform up to par.
Testimonial By A Parent Like You
"My son recently turned 15, and started taking Advanced Placement exams. He was doing quite poorly in Spanish II and English III, having scored only a 2 and 3 respectively. With one week left before he needed to take the AP test, I decided to enroll him in TutorOne Private Tutoring. His teacher had told me that he was a bright kid, but just didn’t put forth the effort required to excel. My son came home every day telling me about the amazing learning experience he was having with TutorOne. He did score a 4 on his Spanish II test, and his overall grade point average went from a 2.9 (D) to a 4.8 (A+) in Spanish, and a 1.7 (F) to a 4.0 (A) in English. Most importantly though, my son learned to love his studies and got a kick out of seeing his grades soaring. It was truly eye opening to see how one lesson per week changed everything." ~ Lisa H.,Parent, California
The TutorOne Difference

TutorOne is committed to the belief that every student thrives best in a positive, fun-loving, nurturing learning environment. The TutorOne Difference is about creating an engaging atmosphere in which kids feel motivated to excel. The majority of TutorOne schools operate as small academies; they offer individual learning environments that allow students to interact within a group or with one-to-one tutors.
