A: We are excited to announce our upcoming summer term schedule for 2020/21 academic sessions which kicks off with back-to-back days on June 1st & 2nd 2020 and running to July 27th & 28th 2020. Our Summer Term Schedule runs Monday to Friday and includes one full day of school per week with a half day scheduled on Fridays. During these periods, we provide one-on-one math lessons at schools across Southwestern Ontario. We offer two different schedules depending upon student needs； both include homework support but differ in terms of class size.
Schedule A provides smaller classrooms for those needing individualized attention during the course of school while our other schedule offers larger classes to accommodate families who cannot commit their child’s entire day to us due to scheduling constraints. For parents that prefer smaller groups, this program offers flexibility and convenience to fit around family life while still offering effective instruction. Both programs include home assignments but may be subject to change without notice.
TutorOne’s School-Based Math Program will meet specific standards established by the Ministry of Education including minimum teacher qualifications, curriculum requirements, assessment criteria for teaching practices, and evaluation processes for student outcomes. These are outlined below:
Teacher Licence Requirements
To become qualified to work independently under contract, teachers must hold a valid Ontario Teaching Certificate (OECS), possess current certification issued by the College of Teachers for Elementary Education. All OECS candidates must pass the following four assessments prior to graduation.
Ontario English Literacy Test (OELTA). The OELTA assesses reading comprehension ability in addition to basic language competency, knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary appropriate to grade level content areas. Candidates must score 80% passing on the written exam to proceed to testing oral proficiency. If you fail the literacy test then retake it. Passing scores range from 20 points to 60+ on a 100 point scale.
